How is the price calculated?
Our calculator uses your origin and destination cities, the volume of your belongings (cubic metres), service type, and any optional add-ons. Rates come from our verified 2026 rate card for major routes. For tier 2 and tier 3 cities, rates are calculated using distance-based market data and are clearly marked as estimates.
What is backloading and how much does it save?
Backloading means sharing truck space on an existing interstate run. You only pay for the cubic metres you use. Backloading offers the same professional service and insurance as a dedicated truck β typically at 40β50% less cost. It works best if your moving dates are flexible by 3β7 days.
What does the base rate include?
The base rate covers professional loading at pickup, transit to your destination, unloading at delivery, and furniture blankets for protection. It does not include packing, stairs surcharges, insurance, or storage β add these using the optional add-ons in the calculator.
Are tier 2 and tier 3 city rates accurate?
Rates for smaller cities like Newcastle, Geelong, Townsville, Cairns, and others are calculated using a distance-based formula derived from current market data. These are clearly marked as “π Estimated.” For a precise quote on these routes, click Get Free Fixed Quote or call us on 0469 049 144.
How do moves from Hobart or Launceston work?
All truck-based interstate moves from Tasmania travel via the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Devonport to Melbourne. Your removalist coordinates the full journey. Book ferry vehicle space at least 4β6 weeks ahead as it sells out quickly, especially in summer.
